Heat Transfer in a Nanofluid Flow past a Permeable Continuous Moving Surface

    Get PDF
The main purpose of this paper is to introduce a boundary layer analysis for the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics of an incompressible nanofluid flowing over a permeable isothermal surface moving continuously. The resulting system of non-linear ordinary differential equations is solved numerically using Runge-Kutta method with shooting techniques. Numerical results are obtained for the velocity, temperature and concentration distributions, as well as the friction factor, local Nusselt number and local Sherwood number for several values of the parameters, namely the velocity ratio parameter, suction/injection parameter and nanofluid parameters. The obtained results are presented graphically and in tabular form and the physical aspects of the problem are discusse

Lateral unicondylar knee arthroplasty in osteonecrosis of lateral femoral condyle

Osteonecrosis of the knee usually more common on the medial femoral condyle.Lateral femoral condyle involvement is rare. In chronic cases, it becomes a challenge for surgeons to treat such cases with advanced arthritis and chronic collapsed cartilage involving most most of the femoral condyle using micro fracture, core decompression, fixation of free fragment for restoring the articular cartilage.Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) is a procedure that enables restoring normal knee kinematics along with its function for arthritis limited to either compartment of knee joint by preserving unaffected compartment and sparing knee ligaments. We report a 24-year-old male patient with 4 years history of left knee joint pain and walking difficulty following history of Road Traffic Accident (RTA) 5 years back. Local examination of left knee joint revealed tenderness over lateral aspect of left knee joint with fixed flexion deformity of 10 degree and extension lag of 30 degree. Radiological findings suggestive of unicompartmental post-traumatic osteonecrosis of lateral femoral condyle. Surgical intervention aiming for anatomical and functional restoration of knee joint in form of Lateral Unicondylar Arthroplasty of lateral condyle was done. Patient was followed up for a period of 1 year. There were no complications noted and patient was mobilized immediately

Outcome of diaphyseal femur fractures treated with enders nail in paediatric age group

Introduction: In children, shaft femur fracture is the most common injury sustained. Earlier these fractures were treating conservatively but with advancement of orthopaedic implants and surgical modalities now operative intervention is favourable for early mobilization with less complication. Inadequate reduction/fixation can lead to growth disturbances among children about to attain skeletal maturity closure. Variety of surgical options includes external fixators, plates and flexible intramedullary nails and has its own complications, but the choice of implant to be used as gold standard in the management of these fractures is still a matter of debate. Enders nailing among the Flexible Intramedullary Nails, being a minimal invasive procedure and tensile property of the nail along with the feasibility of early mobilization led to its popularity. Aim: Aim of the study was to evaluate the use of Enders nail in paediatric diaphyseal femur fractures in terms of union, complications, early mobility and minimally invasive technique. Materials and Methods: This interventional prospective study was conducted from May 2017- April 2019 with 32 paediatric patients with diaphyseal femur fracture in a 5-15 years age group. Retrograde Enders nailing was done in all diaphyseal femur fractures using traction table
